Hey Guys! Today I am going to show you an easy way to get all of your servings of fruit in!! WOO!
Share this with someone who could use a little fruit smoothie in their life!
So like…Steph you tell me that I need to try to get like, 4 servings of this stuff in a day. How?
This smoothie takes minutes to make and is such a simple and delicious way to increase your fruit intake for the day!
Ingredients:
1 Serving of Orange = 1 Whole Orange – Approx. 200g
1 Serving of Banana = 1 Small Banana – Approx. 100g
2 Servings of Strawberries = Approx. 200g
(= 4 Servings)
1 Cup Almond Breeze Original Almond Milk
3-5 Ice Cubes (or you can freeze your fruit/use frozen fruit instead)
** Remember – 1 Serving is not a one size fits all. The USDA recommends that you consume at least 2 cups of fruit a day. The AHA recommends 4 SERVINGS. This can be very confusing, especially since different fruits have different serving sizes.
** I generally attribute 100g as “1 cup” even though grams measure weight and cup measures volume. This can also be considered 1 serving as well.
Directions:
Step 1: Put it all in a blender.
Step 2: BLEND!! For approximately 30 seconds, or to desired consistency.
Step 3: ENJOY!
Tips:
The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it to your liking. I love changing up my sources of fruit every few weeks! Sometimes it’s fun to incorporate fruit that is currently in season – Springtime is perfect for Pineapples! I also have a watermelon in the fridge too. Experiment!
You can of course also use whatever milk you wish to. I prefer not to drink milk, so this is my personal go-to.
Feel free to add ½ Cup – 1 Cup of leafy greens too, like kale or spinach! if you struggle to get your veggies in (more on this next week). I promise you won’t taste it
